Canadian breed standard

"Well proportioned, arched, strong and long enough to permit the head being carried high and with dignity. Skin snug at the throat."

The neck is set on high. A correct neck will be evident from its carriage when the dog moves. Both of these necks are correct.
  
This dog has a short neck.
This dog has a short, thick neck.
This dog has excessive skin at the throat (dewlap).
